We’ve were fortunate to catch the WordPress wave right as it took off and have been using this amazing blog and CMS software to develop client sites (and this site too) for a few years now. We’re really excited to be attending Wordcamp 2009 at the Denver Art Museum at the end of the month. We’re really looking forward to learning even more about WordPress and being able to use this new found knowledge to “take it to the next level” for our clents.

It seems that more and more, people are looking to the blogosphere as a viable marketing tool. It makes sense if you think about it. Many different “voices” all promoting something – it’s quite powerful.

I recently ran across this site – www.blogactionday.org. As the organizers put it:

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind – the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

It certainly is an interesting idea, everyone talking about one subject…we’re anxious to see how it turns out.

On Thursday April 5th, Invisible Window will be participating in the second annual CSS Naked Day. The following is how CSS Naked Day is described on the official web site.

The idea behind this event is to promote Web Standards. Plain and simple. This includes proper use of (x)html, semantic markup, a good hierarchy structure, and of course, a good ‘ol play on words. It’s time to show off your .

What does this mean in English? Web developers who believe in compliance with web standards (something Invisible Window is a big proponent of) strive to separate the content (XHTML) on a web page from the structure (CSS). There are many reasons for this, not the least of which is accessibility across many formats and platforms – a properly marked up XHTML page should be readable on everything from modern browsers, like Fire Fox to mobile devices like a Treo or Razr. On CSS Naked day, site owners agree to rid their site of CSS (formatting) and just show their naked markup (XHTML). Why? To illustrate that content still is king (and that we’re geeks).
